Embracing the Great Life

Hey there, friends! Who are you going to help today?

I want to talk about something I had written down in my journal many years ago. It has been swirling around my mind lately: "Don't settle for the good life - go for the great life. Spend more time thinking about how you can be useful, not how you will survive. Life is people. Be useful." I don't remember where I read this, but these words hold so much wisdom and inspiration that I couldn't help but share my thoughts with you.

We often find ourselves caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life, worrying

about hitting goals and getting ahead. I mean, I live for big goals! Or, we have our heads down and focused on surviving each day, feeling like we have to grind it out instead of thriving. But what if we shifted our focus? What if we dedicated more time and energy to pondering how we can make a positive impact and be of service to others? That's where the magic happens – in embracing the great life. I have been going through this with our farm and retreat project. I want it to be spectacular, and that has me going in many directions in my mind. Big goals distract me from the real meaning of what I want to create. Someone asked me recently, "Well, how are you going to help people?" It's the same with writing my book. I am so worried about it being perfect and having a plan to write each day, and I got off track to make sure it is truly helpful to others. It was a good wake-up call.

Living a great life doesn't mean abandoning our responsibilities or ignoring our well-being. It means finding a harmonious balance between personal growth and contributing to the world around us. When we shift our mindset from "the hustle" to actively seeking ways to be useful, we tap into our potential to create meaningful connections and make a difference.

Being useful can take many forms. It could be lending a helping hand to a friend in need, volunteering for a cause close to your heart, or simply offering a kind word and a listening ear to someone going through a tough time. It's about recognizing that our actions, no matter how small, have the power to brighten someone's day and bring positive change to the world. The beauty of embracing the great life is that it opens doors to new opportunities.

When we focus on being useful, we become more aware of the needs and desires of those around us. We start noticing our unique talents and skills and how we can utilize them to create a positive impact. Maybe you're an excellent listener or a talented artist – think about channeling those abilities to uplift others.

As I have seen, as we dedicate ourselves to being useful, we begin to build a network of like-minded individuals who share our passion for making a difference. I've seen that with the farm project. When I tell people about the non-profit I want to start, their eyes light up, and they think of ways to help. Surrounding ourselves with such people fuels our motivation and amplifies our impact. Together, we can create a ripple effect that extends far beyond what we could achieve on our own.

So, let's challenge ourselves to break free from the limitations of the good life

and embrace the great life. Let's invest our time and energy in activities beyond survival, allowing us to thrive. By focusing on how we can be useful, we tap into the incredible power of human connection and discover the immense joy that comes from making a positive impact on the lives of others.

Remember, life is people. Each interaction, each act of kindness, and each effort to be useful shape our own journey and the world around us. Don't settle for the ordinary – aim for the extraordinary. Embrace the great life, and let your unique gifts and talents be the catalyst for positive change. So, I ask again, who are you going to help today?
